It can be read as AMLT or MALT. I wanted to represent my heritage; I am Singaporean Hokkien. In our lingo, beer is termed as Ang Mo Liang Teh (AMLT | 红毛凉茶) which loosely translates to White Men’s Cooling Tea.

While this might be easily understood by Hokkien-speaking locals, others might find it difficult to understand or remember. Hence, we blended the word - MALT (a core ingredient in making beer) - into AMLT.
